About
Look A Day is a web magazine committed to bringing you real people wearing real clothes. In other words, real fashion!
Who Are You?
My name is Gal Josefsberg. I am an MBA student at the Berkeley – Columbia EMBA program.
Why Build A Site Like This?
Because everywhere I looked I found nothing but airbrushed supermodels wearing clothes that cost hundreds of dollars. There was nothing out there that showed practical outfits for people with real budgets. There were no shots of people without stick thin model bodies looking good in clothing that was affordable and comfortable.
How Did You Get The Idea?
I love fitness and one of the things that always bothers me about fashion magazines is the horrible body image that they foster. It’s just not healthy to promote size zero as the ideal size for people. I’ve spoken out about this on various occasions but I couldn’t figure out a way to make people realize just how beautiful they already were. Then one day, while I was walking through New York’s Times Square and appreciating all the people around me, I realized that many of the folks out in the crowd looked great. Yes, I know, that’s not really a revelation is it? But what was a revelation was how well people dressed. These were tourists, workers, executives, store clerks and random New Yorkers out on the town and quite a few of them looked better than any of the models I had seen in the fashion magazines. So I thought to myself, why not build a site that highlighted all of this? Why not show people just how good they can look without spending a thousand dollars, getting a personal trainer, hair dresser, photographer and a diet that leaves you with nothing to eat but an apple a day? And thus, Look A Day was born.
