Scottsdale - September 4th, 2009. Pic 4 It’s funny, when I launched this site I expected places like New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles to be the cities where fashion was cutting edge, the places where people looked unique. So far, that looks to be incorrect. Seems like it’s smaller cities like Scottsdale and Wichita where people ignore the mainstream fashion magazines and go with their own looks. However, this is just a small sample size. I suppose we’ll see if that holds true over the long run.

In the meantime, we have our lovely friend here from Scottsdale in her very pretty pants and oversized shirt outfit. I’m usually a fan of bold colors but this one actually works really well for me. She’s a self described bohemian chic wearer and I think she’s right, although I would toss in a little touch of the 60’s too. Whatever she draws her inspiration from, she looks great and very comfortable. The long lines of the top really flatter her.

This look comes to us from Scottsdale courtesy of Brad Garner Photography.

The items came from:

  • Rue 21 top – thrift store $5
  • High Sierra trouser – Mervyn’s $15
  • Mudd shoes – Mervyn’s $15
  • Handmade coral necklace – Pendant bought at street vendor in Berlin for 7 Euro (approx. $10 and a perfect little touch to spruce up the outfit with a bit of color)
  • DKNY glasses $175 (makes me very happy with my decision to get Lasik!)

Why does she like it? “I love the texture of the top, the different shades of brown give me a very natural and calming feeling…The top is longer, which is slimming, and the crochet/knitted way it was made makes it very comfortable. The capris are comfortable and show off my calves. The banded-toe shoes are also very comfortable and also have different shades of brown, which matches the top.” My thoughts exactly. Ok, that’s a complete lie. I was actually thinking that it’s a good thing she’s standing in the shade because it’s Scottsdale, which in case you didn’t know it, has the average temperature of the sun! However, now that she mentions it, those pants DO shows off her calves real nicely.
