Now This Is How You Wear A Sundress! (New York – September 9th, 2009)
So you know how I’ve been railing against strappy sandals? Today’s look is a perfect example of why. Don’t get me wrong, a cute pair of sandals can look really good from time to time and I definitely realize they’re comfortable. However, check out these pictures. Here’s a woman with what is essentially a sundress, although a very pretty one. Love the color choices by the way, bold black, red and white is never a bad option.
With a pair of sandals this would become a very casual and cute look. Add in these boots however and the “va va voom” factor just went way up. And yes, “va va voom” is a perfectly legitimate term. Look it up, if it’s not in the dictionary then it damn well should be next to a picture of this woman!
This look comes to us from Broadway and 17th St courtesy of Lee Satkowski Photography. That’s near NYU, no? Can someone please explain to me why the NYU team is called the “Violets” and yet their mascot is the bobcat? Seriously, this makes even less sense than the Stanford Cardinal thing…
- Dress from Strawberry; ~$40
- Boots: vintage
New York, you’ve outdone yourself today!

The Timeless Beauty of Sundresses (New York – September 16th, 2009)
I got to say, whoever came up with the sundress was a genius. It’s such a pretty combination of comfort, style and fun. Put anyone in a sundress and they look 10 years younger and one recession happier. Am I right? I am!
Check out today’s look. She looks so happy that I’m even willing to overlook the strappy sandals and chunky bag. Even the name sundress brings fun stuff to mind and a cute pink one with a floral print makes me see images of a beach in my head. Can’t you see her there? Walking along the crystal blue waters, dodging the surf… Does anyone else feel like a pina colada right now? I guess it’s just me.
This look comes to us from the corner of Mulberry and Bleeker (close to my favorite New York Falafel place!) courtesy of Lee Satkowski Photography.
- “Roxy” dress, bought at Abercrombie & Fitch, $50
- Lacoste shoes, $140 (highway robbery!)
- Purse from Daffy’s
- -sunglasses: Kenneth Cole (purchased in Russia)
Best part about the outfit? “The comfort”. Can’t argue with that.
