Fashion Love Story (New York – September 24th, 2009)
Here’s a great example of style in action. Take a relatively simple outfit, basically jeans and a tank top. Add a pretty necklace, a light jacket and high heels and you got a nice little outfit for going out in. The pretty smile certainly doesn’t hurt. By the way, is it just me or is this picture even more perfect because she’s standing in a construction site? My weird little brain sees that and immediately comes up with a story. Like how she’s called Sarah and she’s on her way to meet her boyfriend Anthony and they’re going to go to lunch together, only Sarah doesn’t know that Anthony is planning to propose so she… er… ok, nevermind me. Sometimes, I wish I knew the difference between an inside voice and an outside voice.
This look comes to us from 15th Street & Broadway (two blocks from where Anthony bought the ring!) courtesy of Lee Satkowski Photography.
- Martin & Osa necklace; $40
- Purse & shirt: Express; $30-50/each
- Jeans, jacket from Spain
Say yes Sarah, he loves you!

2nd Day of Milan “Look Cute In Skirts” week (Milan – September 11th, 2009)
It’s funny, as much as I’ve always been led to believe that European fashion is more sophisticated and complex than its American counterpart, I’m starting to get the feeling that it’s actually much simpler, and that’s not a bad thing. For example, most of the pictures of Italian women going out in a more casual style these days seem to consist of a simple but pretty skirt paired with a simple shirt. Sure, it’s always a bit unique with things like hemlines or prints but the look itself is rather simple.
Case in point, today’s look. Cute but plain white skirt with an interesting hemline, simple black tank top and a few interesting little accessories like the tasseled belt and pretty bracelet. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated and yet it really works well. It’s clean, it’s simple and it’s very pretty. Maybe the key to complicated fashion is to keep it simple…

- Glasses – Rayban : 90.00 euro (and again I say, spend less on things that hide your face and spend more on things that look good!)
- Watch – Dolce & Gabanna : 58.00 euro
- Bag – Louis Vuitton: 285.00 euro (which is probably more than the whole rest of the outfit combined. Seriously, I don’t understand the trend towards big, chunky and really expensive bags. This outfit doesn’t need it).
Best part about the outfit? “In sunny and hot days like today I prefer skirts and fresh shirts, and to complete my look I like the accessories.” Well, she has me there, but she really doesn’t need the bag and glasses to look good.

Ooooooh! Sexy! (Los Angeles – September 2nd, 2009)
There are some looks that are cute, some that are pretty and even some that are beautiful. This look however is just plain sexy! And there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes, a little raw sex appeal goes a long way, especially when it’s done so well. Also, here’s a lesson to you, sexy doesn’t have to mean showing a lot of skin, this skirt is actually cut rather long, sexy is more often than not about what you don’t reveal as opposed to what you do. Not quite the outfit to do push ups in, but it’s definitely got a lot going for it in other ways.
This look comes to us from Los Angeles.
Pictures provided by Brad Garner Photography.
The items came from:
- Nine West shoes $40
- The rest came from a thrift store for about $15 total. Damn! What thrift store carries clothes like this??!?
Why does she like it? “It’s simple and comfortable, and speaks about my personality.” I’d say. Bold, confident and sexy, that’s a hell of a personality!

It’s Shorts Time In Texas! (Dallas – August 24th, 2009)
Shorts are usually considered the opposite of fashionable. They’re supposed to be something casual that you throw on for when you need to take the dog to the park or the kids to school. And yet, shorts can actually look quite good. Take our this look from Dallas. It’s very simple, very appropriate for the heat in Texas and yet very stylish. It works especially well because her tank top is a bit more than just a simple tank and her sandals are a bit more than just simple flip flops. In other words, she’s wearing a casual shorts and tank top outfit, but she went just a little bit further and that makes the difference.
- Shirt is from Anthropologie and cost $30. Love it by the way, great piece, very flexible with how you can wear it. I can see this working really well on something a bit less casual.
- Shorts are from Madewell and cost $12. Great price.
- Shoes are from Nordstroms and cost $30. To be honest, I’m really starting to hope strappy sandal season is behind us, but that’s just me!
Just more proof that style doesn’t have to be uncomfortable and that comfortable summer outfits don’t have to lack style.

A Touch of Blue (Milan – August 17th, 2009)
Sometimes, it’s really the accessories that make the outfit. Take today’s look as an example. It’s actually rather simple, flip flops, plain jeans and a white tank top. Then you toss in an interesting bag, a bright silver bracelet, a neat looking belt with a touch of army and bright blue scarf and the whole outfit turns from casual into chic. I’m not sure about the sunglasses though, I always think that sunglasses are only good for obscuring a pretty face. Still, it’s a lovely outfit that’s really a success due to the accessories.

- Jeans – Bershka : 15.00 euro
- Bag – B52 : 32.00 euro
