Well, maybe not all beautiful moms wear scarves but this one does. Check this out. Normally, if I saw khaki shorts and a white top I’d think “meh!” which is my way of saying “whatever!” However, all it takes is a little touch of color and style, like a blue scarf, and this outfit transforms from a “meh!” to a cute little number that looks both stylish and comfortable. And yay, no strappy sandals!!! (thank you Wichita)

  • Shirt-Motherhood: $15.
  • Scarf-Target: $10.
  • Shorts- Old Navy: $15.
  • Shoes- Old Navy: $5
  • Baby – Do I really need to tell you where babies come from?

When she starts coordinating her clothes with the baby’s, that’s when she’s gone too far.

When I was first learning about what looks good and what doesn’t, one of the earliest lessons I learned was “no horizontal stripes”. So when I looked at these pictures, I thought to myself that I couldn’t really post them on Look A Day. After all, this is a fashion site and everyone knows that horizontal stripes are not fashionable. Wait a minute though, she looks good. Why was I thinking about not posting these again? Because they violate some silly rule of mainstream fashion magazines? That’s exactly why Look A Day was created, to show you all that you can look so good even if you don’t follow all the rules. And you know what? She looks GREAT! It’s unique, it’s eye catching and it totally works. So bravo to you Wichita, for showing me yet again that fashion is not all about what New York and Paris say it should be.

  • Shoes are from Von Maur and there was no price because they were a birthday present.
  • Slacks are from Express and cost $40.
  • Shirt is also from Express and cost $30.

Love the shoes by the way. Whoever got her those as a birthday present had a great eye.

For some reason, I look at this and think “old fashioned”. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a bad thing. I think old fashioned can be great as in this case. Here old fashioned means “classy” and “lovely”. I think it’s the pearls that do it or maybe the salmon colored dress or maybe it’s the heels. Oh, I don’t know. All I know is that this look is wonderful. It’s very classy and yet it’s summery. I can see her in this going to anything from a formal get together to a casual party.

  • Dress came from Dillards and cost $30. I believe Dillards is the midwest version of a JCPenny’s. In other words, a large department store. This is a great price for something so pretty.
  • Shoes are also from Dillards and cost $20.
  • Earrings are a Mary Kay gift set. Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while.
  • Bracelet/Necklace are a gift from her grandfather. The man has good taste!

There are some looks that never get old. This is one of them. Well done Wichita, you’ve made me fall in love yet again!

We’re still in Wichita today, mainly because I fell in love when I saw this woman’s smile. Yes, the outfit is great. It’s simple, it’s clean, it’s pretty, it’s every possible thing an outfit should be. Still, I can’t look at it for too long without seeing her smile. I think this is really the best example of the fact that attitude makes the outfit. If you’re confident and you show it, any outfit can look good. The fact that this outfit is so adorable it would look good on a depressed alcoholic doesn’t hurt, but it’s really her smile that’s the best accessory here.

  • Dress came from Target and cost $20
  • Heels are the Jessica Simpson brand and cost $70
  • Earrings are her mother’s from 1960
  • Smile is from perfect genetics and is priceless

Yah, a $20 dress looks THAT good!

When one of our photographers mentioned that she was going to Wichita to get some photographs I thought, “Wichita?!? What possible fashion could there be in Wichita? It’s farm land! No no no, I want the streets of New York, Paris, Milan and Los Angeles, not corn fields!” Then she sent me these photos and the next thing I was thinking was “Hey, let’s move to Wichita!!”

Words fail me when I look at these photos. She’s just so… so…. so… perfect! It’s like every stereotype of the Midwest but in a good way. She’s cute, she’s pretty, she’s dressed conservatively and yet she looks great. There are no accessories and really, the outfit doesn’t need any. She’s the perfect girl next door. Oh, and the best part of all of this is the cost and sources. Get this:

  • Dress came from Goodwill, that’s a thrift store for those who are unaware, for $60
  • Shoes came from Kohl’s and cost $20

That’s right, a perfect outfit that can be used for fancy occasions as well as simple ones and it only cost $80. I know women who have spent more than that on a pair of shoes that they wore once and here’s our lovely woman from Wichita showing that fashion is not just for coastal cities. Bravo to you Wichita!
