A More Relaxed Version Of Casual (New York – October 14th, 2009)
Yesterday was all about the thrown together look. Here’s a slightly different variation on the same idea. It’s less aggressive and more casual I think but it looks just as good. The shoes are working for me better than the boots did yesterday but I’m a bit more partial to the shirt from yesterday than I am to this one. Oh well, it all balances out I suppose. Either way, both are good takes on the same theme.

- Jacket & shirt: vintage
- Shoes by Aldo
- Leggings by Juicy
By the way, I’m noticing a lot more jackets lately. It’s definitely fall in New York!

Tights In New York, Seriously? (New York – October 1st, 2009)
Is this stylish? It certainly looks good, but is it stylish? What is style anyway? Is it taking the time to make sure you look good when you wear tights? There’s a part of me that wanted to not post this because it looks thrown together at the last moment. Then again, if it was thrown together, who ever did it was good. This looks great. It manages to look casual and yet neat all at the same time. You know what? Screw it. This site is all about not giving in to some magazine’s stupid fashion sense and instead showing you all how great ordinary people can look. This woman looks beautiful and I’m going to tell the whole world about her.

- Leggings: “American Apparel”
- Blouse: “Urban Outfitters”
- Purse: “Zara”, $225

And if anyone tells you that leggings can’t be stylish, you just send them here!

Petticoat Alley Fashion (New York – September 18th, 2009)
I love the name of this dress, Petticoat Alley. That’s just great. It also looks good which is important because name alone will only get you so far. As opposed to the rest of the dresses we’ve been look at this week, this particular piece seems a bit less casual to me. Maybe it’s just me, but I can see this in an office environment too. I think it’s the color. Yesterday’s piece was more colorful and that makes it less formal. I wonder what this would look like in a bolder color like red. Do you think it would still look semi formal? What about if it was paired with sandals? Quick, someone get this girl to try on some outfits for us!
This look comes to us from Saint Marks Place at Second Avenue courtesy of Lee Satkowski Photography.
- Lord & Taylor’s “Petticoat Alley” dress, $100 (That’s where yesterday’s dress came from too!)
- Vintage “Dooney & Bourke” shoulderbag
- H&M shoes
Best part about the outfit? “comfortable, stylish” Ok, we get it NYC, you like your style with comfort! I wonder if I walk around New York and wave uncomfortable shoes at people if they’ll scream and run away…
